PLEA

U-Turn

U-Turn is a comprehensive and dynamic program for young people aged 9-18 who are in the care of the Ministry of Children & Family Development, and who are facing significant behavioural and developmental challenges. It is designed especially for those who have had limited success in other residential settings.

Why we do it...

Our aim is to provide each youth with the trusting relationships and supportive environment they need to develop the skills, confidence and comfort to live fulfilling lives.

How we work...

We tailor the services we provide according to each youth’s individual strengths, needs, circumstances and goals.

Where we do it...

We have homes throughout Metro Vancouver

What we do…

We provide each youth with a safe, nurturing, staff-supported family home coupled with the one-to-one support of a youth worker. We also coordinate a variety of other resources. These include:

  • medical and dental
  • educational
  • psychological
  • counselling
  • cultural
  • recreational and vocational
  • life-skills

Youth are encouraged to establish their own goals and to participate in developing their service and safety plans. Youth are also supported in maintaining their connections with their family, other important people in their lives and their home community. Placements are typically long-term.
