FASD
We support children, youth, adults and families living with FASD and other neurodevelopmental conditions. Our focus is on helping them reach their full potential, empowering them through self-understanding, and supporting their families and the communities around them to provide more effective care.
How long are the services...
Assessment services require several months to complete including referral, intake, collection of background records, multiple assessment appointments, the results meeting, receipt of the summary and then final reports.
Therapy services are provided as needed to meet each individual’s therapeutic goals.
How we work...
At Asante, we believe in diverse abilities. We are committed to understanding perinatal influences on development, such as alcohol and drug exposure and complex trauma, and addressing them in ways that recognize the inherent gifts of each individual.
Where we do it...
We provide services for children, youth, adults, and communities across British Columbia. Most appointments take place at our office in Maple Ridge, though many take place closer to the person’s home community or virtually when required.
What we do…
We provide assessment and diagnostic services, speech-language therapy, community education and capacity building, and research activities.
Assessment and diagnosis of FASD and other complex needs involves evaluations by a physician, a registered psychologist or licensed school psychologist, and (usually) a speech-language pathologist.
Referrals may come to Asante from a social worker or probation officer, provincial corrections, or Community Living BC. We also accept self-referrals for fee-for-service assessments and speech-therapy.
