Find Us In The Community

You can get involved with PLEA through the following annual events.

Genesis Yardworks - Ongoing

Genesis Yardworks is an initiative that allows students to participate in a venture that provides them with valuable work experience and skills required to enter the workforce. Under the close supervision of PLEA, the students provide customers with a variety of services, including junk removal, lawn care and garden maintenance. Participating students are paid an hourly wage and additional earned revenue is utilized to purchase and maintain equipment. Genesis Yardworks is an initiative of PLEA Community Services and School District 39 to support local students in gaining valuable work experience and skills.

Putting on the Glitz - March

Putting on the Glitz is a grassroots initiative involving PLEA employees, representatives from Ridge Meadows Community Service Agencies, local business and other partners.  We all work together to provide local high school graduates in need with ‘formal attire’ so that they can attend their graduation festivities with pride. Without such assistance many of these students could not afford to participate in celebrating this important milestone due to financial constraints.

We are always accepting donations of gently used grad dresses and accessories to this program.  For more information join our facebook event page or contact Michelle Cherak.

The Enchantment Project - March

The Enchantment Project is a Tri-City initiative that was developed in 2010. It is a collaboration between PLEA Community Services, dedicated volunteers and School District 43 that endeavors to provide high school graduates in need with formal attire so that they can attend their graduation festivities with pride. Without such assistance these students could not afford to participate in celebrating this important milestone.

We are always accepting donations of gently used grad dresses and accessories to this project. For more information on how you can support this event, please contact Jodi Mason at jmason@plea.bc.ca

Vancouver Sun Run - April

Staff, donors and friends of PLEA always get together to run the Vancouver Sun Run in support of KidStart, the only PLEA program reliant on grants and donations.  Anyone interested should contact Kalli Niedoba for more information.
